The Churches of St Margaret's Benefice-Welcome!-The Churches of St Margaret's Benefice

Welcome to our little corner of England!

We are here to reach out to,
serve, connect and support everybody in the villages and hamlets surrounding
St Margaret's.  We strive to be a welcoming and friendly Benefice and look forward to meeting you on your faith journey.

Looking out...

Some days just seem like a rose-tinted cliché - running along the White Cliffs in the early morning sunshine, Skylarks twittering up in the blue, a Spitfire doing acrobatics overhead.  Honestly, if Vera Lynn appeared singing "There'll be bluebirds over..." I wouldn't have batted an eyelid.  Let's hope for more of those moments.

One year on from the devastating Grenfell Tower fire - yet it still seems so close, so visceral was our reaction to the events of that night.  The presence of 24 hour news means we can stumble upon unfolding events quite by accident, drawn in to what is happening in real time, as was the case that night.  It was difficult to switch off and go to bed - it felt like abandoning people in their time of utmost need.  A year on and people are still in desperate need for suitable housing, care and support, and probably will need it for the rest of their lives.  We pray today for all those touched by the Grenfell Tower disaster, that they may find peace and a way forward.
“God is faithful, and he will not let you be tested beyond your strength but with your testing he will also provide the way out so that you may be able to endure it” (1 Corinthians 10:13)
Sometimes it can seem like He has more faith in us than we have in Him.

Had a wonderfully satisfying, and enlightening, week - together with Rebecca, we made two fantastic visits, one to the Catching Lives day centre and one to Dover Outreach Centre, so we could deliver your amazingly generous donations from our Big Night Out and meet the people behind these essential projects.  At Catching Lives we were also joined by Rachel van Hoven from Porchlight, so we could deliver two cheques together.  In the end, we actually were able to give each charity £761, which will make real, material differences to them.  Read more about our visits here.
